Description
English: Saint Francis Solanus. South American missionary of the Franciscan Order; born at Montilla, Cordova, Spain, in 1549; died at Lima, Peru, in 1610. His missionary works in South America extended over a period of twenty years, during which time he evangelized the vast regions of Tucuman and Paraguay. Later he was called by his superiors to Lima, where he died among general sorrow.
Español: San Francisco Solano. nació en Montilla (Córdoba, España), fué enviado por la orden franciscana a evangelizar la tierras del Virreinato del Perú, llegando a Lima en 1590. Destinado inicialmente a Tucumán, donde su acción misonera fue extraordinaria. Los superiores de Lima, de quienes dependía, lo llamaron a Perú, donde falleció en olor de santidad el 14 de julio de 1610.
