Description
English: This is the Royal seal of Shivaji, the first Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire. The script is Devanagari and language Sanskrit. It is usually stamped on the head of the letter, and in some cases, back. Loosely translated, it reads, "Ever growing in splendour like the moon on the first day of the bright half of the month, and adored by the world, this seal of Shivaji, the son of Shahaji, shines for the benediction of all"
मराठी: हि छत्रपती शिवाजी महाराजांची राजमुद्रा आहे. याची भाषा संस्कृत असून लिपी देवनागरी आहे. हि मुद्रा एरवी पत्राच्या माथ्यावर छापली जात असे, आणि क्वचित पत्राच्या पाठी.

शिक्क्याचा मजकूर असा आहे - प्रतिपचंद्रलेखेव वर्धीष्णुर्विश्ववंदिता । शाहसूनोः शिवस्येषा मुद्रा भद्राय राजते ।। याचा भावार्थ असा -

"प्रतिपदेच्या चंद्रकलेप्रमाणे प्रतिदिन वृध्दिंगत होणारी, जगाला वंदनीय असणारी शाहपुत्र शिवाजीची ही मुद्रा मांगल्यासाठी शोभत आहे"
