English: Arms of Searle of "Gotford in the parish of Holford in the hundred of Hemiock" and of Awliscombe, both in Devon: Gules, on a chevron between three trefoils argent as many pellets (Source: Vivian, Lt.Col. J.L., (Ed.) The Visitation of the County of Devon: Comprising the Heralds' Visitations of 1531, 1564 & 1620, Exeter, 1895, p.673). No such parish as "Holford" appears to exist. This seat is possibly one of two places:
Gosford (today Gosford Farm) near the hamlet of Taleford, near Ottery St Mary;
Godford, near Awliscombe, about 2 miles NW of Honiton and 5 miles NE of Ottery St Mary. Awliscombe was in the Wikipedia:Hundred of Hemiock.
