English: The men of the Second Division had been fighting since the the Battle of Amiens on the 8th of August 1918. Just after dawn on the 31st August the Australian Infantry attacked Mont St. Quentin and after two days fighting the position was captured and defended against a counter attack. After the war the Memorial site was gifted to the Second Division by the Mayor and Council of Mont St. Quentin and was officially unveiled by Field Marshall Ferdinand Foch of France on the 30 August 1925
