Summary

Description
English: Solanum aethiopicum, African eggplant called diakhato or jaxatu in Wolof (pronounced the same: diakhato is spelled from the French alphabet, jaxatu is spelled from the official Senegalese alphabet), Aubergine africaine (French), somewhat bitter and a popular fresh ingredient for traditional African cuisine. Local names vary between languages and countries. Shown here as sold in Senegal street markets and ready to cook; size as compared to teaspoon and tablespoon.
