DescriptionSouthern Railway ‘U’ Class 2-6-0 ‘31625’ (28735604071).jpg
Built at Ashford works in March 1929 and initially numbered A625, later renumbered 1625 and finally becoming 31625 under British Railways. Withdrawn in January 1964 she was luckily moved to the famous Woodhams Yard at Barry, South Wales, from where she was rescued in March 1980. After further storage, she was restored in just 18 months and was operational in main line running condition between 1996 and 2001. She then suffered boiler problems and became non-operational. She is currently waiting for funds to allow restoration and is seen at Corfe Castle station on the Swanage Railway, Dorset, UK.
