DescriptionSpiny Orb Weaver Spider (Gasteracantha sp.) on a Dry Leaf.jpg
Hasselt's spiny orbweaver spider (Gasteracantha hasselti). Found this along with my macro photography group while trudging along the paved trail at the entrance of Pasir Ris Park, Singapore. It caught the attention of a few in our group. Looks mighty harmful here with all those jutting spikes from its body.
These type of spiders have that distinct thorns or spikes jutting out of their abdomen. They do bite (good thing we did not really touch it or else we'll get a nasty ant-like potent bite) but their bites are generally harmless.
