Summary

Description
English: Top of the spire of the former St Antholin's parish church, Budge Row, City of London, now at Round Hill, Sydenham, London SE26. The church was dedicated to St Antony of Egypt, but his name was corrupted to Antholin. The church was on the corner of Sise Lane and Budge Row/Watling Street in the City of London, approximately on the site now occupied by the Temple of Mithras. The church was designed by Sir Christopher Wren and completed in 1688. The spire was octagonal. It was one of Wren's few true spires and the only stone one was octagonal.
In 1829 the top of the spire was replaced and the original top sold for £5 to Robert Harrild, a printer, who had it re-erected on his property, Round Hill House in Sydenham. St Antholin's church was demolished in 1875 for the building of Queen Victoria Street. Round Hill House has also been lost, but the original 1688 top of St Antholin's spire has been re-erected again, now on a brick plinth and surrounded by a cul-de-sac of 20th-century houses.
