DescriptionSt Mary's church in Shouldham Thorpe - geograph.org.uk - 1737716.jpg
English: St Mary's church in Shouldham Thorpe St Mary's church as we see it today was rebuilt in 1857/58 by the architect Anthony Salvin on the site of an older church which had become derelict, with a bell turret instead of a tower. The magnificent Norman doorway > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1737725 was moved stone by stone and incorporated into the new building, now forming the west doorway. The 15th century baptismal font > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1846432 also came from the older church as does the memorial to Thomas Buttes (d 1600) > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1846423 on the chancel wall. A monument in the nave > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1846426 commemorates three children of Thomas Steuarde of Little Barton and his wife, who died in 1590, 1591 and 1602.
