English: Detail from mural monument to Rev. John Swete (1752-1821) of Oxton House, Kenton, Devon, in Kenton Church. Arms of Swete (Gules, two chevronels between in chief as many mullets or and in base a rose argent seeded of the second) impaling Beaumont of Darton, Yorkshire (whose descendant was Beaumont, Viscount Allendale): Gules, a lion rampant or armed and langued azure an orle of crescents of the second (Montague-Smith, P.W. (ed.), Debrett's Peerage, Baronetage, Knightage and Companionage, Kelly's Directories Ltd, Kingston-upon-Thames, 1968, p.56, Viscount Allendale). Crest of Swete: A mullet as in the arms pierced azure between two gillyflowers proper. Representing the marriage of Rev. John Swete (1752-1821) of Oxton House, Kenton and Charlotte Beaumont (1765-1831), 2nd daughter of Rev. George Beaumont (1726-1773), Rector of Gedling, Nottinghamshire, 2nd son of George Beaumont (1696-1735) of The Oaks, Darton, Yorkshire. (Report by R. P. Graham-Vivian, Windsor Herald, College of Arms, London, 1963: "A coat of arms was granted to Guy Swete of Trayne (in parish of Modbury, Devon) by Edward IV in 1473. Description: Gules, two chevrons between as many mullets in chief and a rose in base Argent seeded Or. Crest: a mullet Or pierced Azure between two gilly flowers proper. Apparently no motto was recorded with this coat of arms." (see:[1])
