Description
English: Campaign broadside for Tennessee Republicans criticizing the state's Democrats for the Coal Creek War. George Winstead was the Republican nominee for governor, and John Chiles Houk was the Republican congressional nominee for the 2nd district. The image on the left, captioned "Convicts at work," shows convicts forced to work in coal mines. The image on the right shows a mother and sick child, and is captioned, "One of the results– starvation, the father and husband has gone to a distant state for work."
