English: Caricature by Charles Dana Gibson against the practice of arranging the marriage of one's daughters to men on grounds of their wealth or aristocratic title, without much consideration of the personal characteristics of the groom. Shows blindfolded clergyman marrying couple; the mother of the bride holds a rope tied to the bride's wrists; small, meek groom.
