DescriptionThe Ca' Steean or Stone, Kendal, Cumbria.jpg
English: The Ca' Steean, Kendal, Cumbria. Cauld Stone or Calling Stone, the Cold Stean or the Coall Stone stands in front of Kendal Town Hall. It is possibly all that remains of Kendal's old market cross. It may also be a 'Charter Stone'.
Traditionally the focal point for local and national announcements. From here that, in 1715, Brigadier Mackintosh and his Highland soldiers rode into Kendal in the pouring rain and the Jacobites proclaimed James III king.
