In 1996, I made my first-ever visit to Washington, DC, using the Election Day long weekend, while I was a college student in New York City. I spent four days in the capital, and my emphasis was primarily to cover various topics that I had learned in my high school history and government/civics classes.
The east steps of the Capitol. Having done the White House tour on my arrival day, I am about to do tours of the Capitol and the Supreme Court on this departure day, to round out coverage of all three branches of the US federal government. Photographs were allowed in the Capitol and at the Supreme Court, but given my lackluster camera and film then, I did not get shots worth scanning and uploading.
