English: Thorneyburn Station. This was an isolated station on a gated lane and for seven months was the terminus for the border Counties Railway until the whole line was completed to Riccarton Junction. Parcels and goods were never handled this station. The gatekeepers cottage doubled up as the station house. The station was opened on 1st February 1861 and closed on 15th October 1956. The cottage is said to be a holiday cottage.
