As seen on the mural monument to John Tristram (1668-1722) in Bampton parish church. The arms given by Pole (d.1635) omit the chief gules: Argent, three torteaux a label of three points azure (Pole, Sir William (d.1635), Collections Towards a Description of the County of Devon, Sir John-William de la Pole (ed.), London, 1791, p.505). The arms of Tristram of Bampton are given incorrectly by Vivian in his Heraldic Visitations of Devon as: Per chevron embattled sable and argent, three buck's heads cabossed counterchanged on a border of the second three trefoils slipped of the first.
