മലയാളം: നീളമുള്ള കാലുകളോടു കൂടിയ ഒരിനം കല്ലൻ തുമ്പിയാണ് കാറ്റാടിത്തുമ്പി - Long-Legged Marsh Glider (ശാസ്ത്രീയനാമം:- Trithemis pallidinervis). കാറ്റുപിടിച്ചുള്ള ഇരിപ്പു മൂലമാണ് മലയാളത്തിൽ ഇവ കാറ്റാടിത്തുമ്പി എന്ന പേരിൽ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. ആൺ, പെൺ തുമ്പികൾക്ക് തവിട്ടുനിറം കലർന്ന മഞ്ഞ നിറമാണ്. ഇവയുടെ വാലിൽ കറുപ്പുനിറത്തിലുള്ള വളയങ്ങളും ചിറകുകളിൽ തവിട്ടു കലർപ്പും കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. തുറന്ന പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ വിഹരിക്കുന്ന ഇവ ചുള്ളിക്കൊമ്പുകൾ ഇരിപ്പിടമാക്കുന്നു. ഇന്ത്യയിൽ മിക്ക സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളിലും കൂടാതെ ബംഗ്ലാദേശ്, കമ്പോഡിയ, ഹോങ്കോങ്, വിയറ്റ്നാം, ചൈന മുആന്മാർ, നേപ്പാൾ, ഒമാൻ, ഫിലിപ്പീൻസ് തുടങ്ങി മിക്ക ഏഷ്യൻ രാജ്യങ്ങളും ഇവയുടെ വിഹാര മേഖലകളാണ്.

A medium sized yellowish brown dragonfly with long spider like legs. They are normally found at grassland and open marshes. They like to perch high at grass blade or bare ends of shrubs with wing slightly pointing up. The long legs are very noticeable at this time. |
