Summary
[edit]Description | Picture of Emma Amos' painting Tumbling After (1986) at the Baltimore Museum of Art in 2022. An expressive painting of three figures, two of which are wearing swimwear and posing with their hands above and behind their heads as if they are about to dive into water. The third figure is placed below and to the right of the first figures, painted as if they are tumbling backwards off the ledge the other two are standing on. The figures are painted against an abstract background of blues, yellows, and whites rendered in gestural, vertical brush strokes, and the entire work is painted on a hanging rectangle of fabric attached to a metal rod with a strip of kente cloth fabric. |
