Summary

Description The U.S. Navy seaplane tender USS Hulbert (AVD-6) after having been blown ashore in Massacre Bay, Attu, Alaska (USA), during a severe storm on 30 June 1943. Hulbert´s hull was seriously damaged. she was towed free and received temporary repairs at Dutch Harbor, before receiving a major overhaul at Bremerton, Washington, starting on 30 August 1943. After her overhaul she was reclassified as destroyer DD-342 on 1 December 1943, her original hull number.
