Summary

Description The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Purdy (DD-734) underway in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island (USA), on 24 October 1971. Note that Purdy received almost no modification. She is still equipped with the SPS-6 radar and is armed with hedehogs and carries a depth charge rack aft. The only modern armament are two Mark 32 torpedo lauchers amidships. Purdy trained naval reservists and served in that role until 1973.
