Summary

Description Postcard photo of the dining car of the Union Pacific railroad's "City of Los Angeles". This type of diner was unique in that it offered meals on two levels. The lower one is shown in the photo. The stairs led to the Astra Dome of the diner, where meals were also served.
Date Not dated, but probably circa 1950s as the domed cars came onto the railroads for the first time in that period. By 1971, the train was no longer operated by Union Pacific.
