DescriptionV & A London, ivory casket, Spain, 11th c (3).jpg
English: This elaborately carved ivory casket dates from around 1000-1025 when the Umayyad Caliphate in Spain collapsed and the main centre for ivory carving moved from Córdoba to Cuenca. The roundels are filled with pairs of animals or refined court life (the two on the front). The silver mounts date probably from the18th century. Victoria and Albert Museum, London, no. 10-1866.
