English: Colossal Vase of Amathonte. From the courtyard of the sanctuary of Aphrodite in the acropolis of Amathonte (Cyprus). It contained water used for libations whose ceremonial is not known to us. A staircase on the side gave access. Shell limestone. Height: 1.87m, Outside diameter: 3.2m. 7th-5th century BC. Louvre museum (Paris, France).
Français : Vase colossal d'Amathonte. Provient de la cour du sanctuaire d'Aphrodite de l'acropole d'Amathonte (Chypre). Il contenait de l'eau utilisé pour des libations dont le cérémonial ne nous est pas connu. Un escalier sur le coté permettait d'accéder. Calcaire coquillier. Hauteur : 1,87m, Diamètre extérieur : 3,2m. 7e-5e siècle av. J.-C. Musée du Louvre.
