Wadsley Bridge signal box located on the Up platform of the closed Wadsley Bridge station in north Sheffield. Saturday 6th June 1987
Wadsley Bridge signal box was a Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway type 4 design fitted with a 30 lever Railway Signal Company Tappet frame which was opened in 1912 by the Great Central Railway, replacing a 28 lever Manchester Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway type 1 design dating from the 1870s. The lever frame was extended to 41 levers in 1929 and the signal box closed on 11th August 1985 when the line between Woodburn Junction signal box and Deepcar was singled and worked by one train (with no staff) regulations. The signal box remained derelict until the late 1980s
