Summary

Description
English: Photo of Whalebone from island "Waiigats", meaning windy hole, the island named by Jan Huyghen van Linschoten on his trip to Nova Zembla with Willem Barentsz. He gave it to the city of Haarlem on the occasion of his wedding there in 1595. Karel van Mander commemorated the event with a plaque.
