Summary

Description
English: Down 'Cornish Riviera Express' ascending to Whiteball Summit.
View NE, towards Wellington, Taunton and London/Bristol: ex-GWR West Country main line. The crack train of the route, 10.30 from Paddington, ran every day (including Sundays) to Penzance, due 16.55 weekdays, 17.25 Saturdays, 18.00 Sundays, ran non-stop to Plymouth but on Saturdays only for change engine and crew - the first advertised stop being Truro. Except on Sundays, part of the train, including the restaurant-car, terminated at St Ives. Here we see it on a Summer Saturday, when it would be preceeded and followed by several Reliefs, hauled as usual - until 1958 - by a Collett 'King' 4-6-0, No. 6007 'King William III' (built 3/36 as a replacement for its 3/28 predecessor which was badly damaged in the Shrivenham accident of 15/1/36, withdrawn 9/62).
