This image is misleading in that it suggests that code executing in ring 3 could only call ring 0 by first calling through gates to rings 2 and then 1. This is incorrect; most operating systems using this kind of ring scheme would include a direct gate (or some equivalent) from ring 3 to ring 0.

I therefore would suggest that it should not be used on any articles where technical accuracy of the description of rings is required. Its current use in rootkit is probably OK, but would discourage others. 212.159.69.4 (talk) 20:11, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
