To call the machine in this photograph a steam whistle is a laughable offense to the engineering institution that owns it. This, my dear friends, is a double-expansion steam engine. The large wheel to the right is a flywheel. The two cylinders share a common piston rod. Most assuredly, no steam whistle appears in this photograph. The acclaimed Georgia Tech steam whistle is presently mounted near the boiler than steams it on the 55th minute of every hour and is not conveniently accessible to tourists. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 130.207.217.172 (talkcontribs) 15:12, 4 April 2007.
