Is this picture ok? should't harmonics be orthogonal? For example first order harmonics for m=1 and m=-1 are just one the negation of the other and thus they are liniar dependent. Asuming the axis are the same they should be rotated 90 around vertical axis. The same should be said for most of the orders. Think in sinus and cosinus. ---- david
- I agree. It looks like there are a few "typos" in this image.
In the second row, Y_{1,-1} is the negative of Y_{1,1}. It should be rotated by 90 degrees around the z-axis.
In the third row, Y_{2,-2} is identical to Y_{2,2} -- the two images at extreme left and right. They should be rotated by 90 degrees relative to one another around the z-axis.
In the fourth row, Y_{3,-3} is the negative of Y_{3,3}, Y_{3,-2} is identical to Y_{3,2}, and Y_{3,-1} is the negative of Y_{3,1}.
It is a beautiful image, and could easily be corrected. Does anyone have the source code so these errors can be corrected?
