Rendering issues[edit]

@Begoon: Why do the stars become brown circles?Jonteemil (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jonteemil, I'm not sure - probably Inkscape getting confused over all the "clip-paths" - I've seen that kind of thing happen before when scaling objects in Inkscape - (sometimes if not everthing in every layer is properly selected). It didn't happen to me, though, on this one, and I deliberately used Inkscape to replicate what you'd be doing, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. (don't be confused that my filesize is smaller - that was a separate, later optimisation step and nothing to do with the "problem"). -- Begoon 23:56, 18 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Jonteemil, actually I could kinda replicate it - I redid a version just rescaled in Inkscape and, while the svg was fine, rsvg, which Mediawiki uses to render png thumbnails, did exhibit the "brown circle issue" in some previews - once I have a bit more time to work out exactly what is going on with it I'll probably report it as an rsvg "bug". -- Begoon 00:08, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the star problem is fixed, thanks for that. Thanks for reporting the bug as well!Jonteemil (talk) 00:21, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Begoon: For some reason the dark blue stroke at the edge is pixelated bitmap and not smooth like vector on my iPhone. On my laptop it looks good.Jonteemil (talk) 09:51, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Jonteemil, it looks fine to me whatever device I look on. Try to WP:BYPASS (and remember for a phone that can involve a hard reboot - and phones cache stuff for longer to save bandwidth). There are no bitmaps. If your phone OS is rendering SVG oddly then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯... Perhaps you're looking at a cached png thumbnail blown up/zoomed (not native size)? That would make "jaggies"... -- Begoon 10:28, 19 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
