Not reliable

[edit]

I just found this image and, while it may provide a vague reference for the distribution of R1b in Europe, it doesn't appear very serious when looked upon with some detail.

I understand that Scotalnd is overall much higher than most of England in this clade, yet this is not reflected properly. But, from a more recent source (original PDF raw data, map describing haplogroup distribution), the distribution shown in this map is anything but realistic for the Iberian peninsula. For example, Galicia has much less R1b apportion than Catalonia, but this appears the other way around in this map. Also, accroding to this paper (relevant map here) the whole Pyrenees are very high in R1b (75% or more) and again this is not apparent at all here.

The first thing I did was to look for the documentation but it does not exist. I understand that drawing such a descriptive map has many difficulties (fragmentation of studies specially) but I also understand that this one is not doing a good job describing the distribution of R1b in Europe and should be totally reviewed or just supressed for that reason, because it may cause confusion among Wikipedia readers.--Sugaar (talk) 01:22, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
