Fire department photography is a type of Photography involving the taking of all types of still pictures and video related to all aspects of the fire service.
Since fire photography involves being close to dangerous situations, fire photographers must have special skills and knowledge about emergency incident scenes, operations, health and safety[1]. Chris is almost always working in PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) which is not designed with photographers in mind[1].

The work of fire photographers has multiple applications:

Involvement with fire departments
Although many Fire Photographer are not affiliated with any particular Fire Department or Emergency agency; Fire Department Photographers are in fact either currently employed or retired from the Fire service. In order for a Photographers work to be accepted and posted online in the gallery the Photographer must meet the minimum qualifications of being either a employed member, volunteer member or retired member of a fire department. This requirement ensures that the photographer has the minimum knowledge skills and abilities to operate around an emergency incident.
