The Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) is a not for profit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization established by the US Congress that raises private-sector funds for a broad portfolio of unique programs that complement and enhance NIH priorities and activities.[1] Its purpose is to support the NIH in its mission to improve health, by forming and facilitating public-private partnerships for biomedical research and training.[2]

Its activities include management of large research initiatives, issuing grants, incubating new research enterprises, administering training and education programs and organizing and facilitating broad-based research summits.[3]
