Frank Ryan (b. 1899 - d. December 30, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts [1] ) was a publicity director and sports announcer who was the first play-by-play announcer and PR director for the Boston Bruins.

Ryan served as the Bruins PR director and radio announcer from 1924-1952. He called play-by-play for home games and recreated road games from telegraph reports.[2] During intermissions, Ryan's brother-in-law would provide updates in French for French Canadians living in New England.[3]

In addition to his work with the Bruins, Ryan also served as a reporter Herald Traveler, hosted a nightly sports program on WAAB, worked as an assessor for the City of Boston, and did public relations for Suffolk Downs and the Harvard University athletic department.[4]
