French Radio London (FRL) is a commercial radio station located in London and broadcasting to the Greater London Area on DAB Digital Radio, and on the Internet. Launched in November 2010, the station remains the only UK based French speaking terrestrial radio station. It aims to provide a cultural link for the French-speaking community in London.[1] Its based-line is "The French Voice of London" or "La voix Française de Londres"
The chief executive is Pascal Grierson, who has previous radio experience with GWR.[1] In December 2013, producer and broadcaster of "Culture FRL" Maïa Morgensztern stepped up as Editor in Chief for Culture.
French Radio London is broadcast predominantly in French, the content being 80% French pop music, even more than would be played on a France-based pop station.[2] As such, and notwithstanding the strong French influence, the station presents a more varied, more international range of musical styles and from a broader time span than would be heard on a typical English speaking pop station.
The station also propose a wide range of cultural (Template:Lang-fr, Culture FRL), sports (Sport FRL), musical (French Toast, Rap Show), economic (Business Leader), and news shows. Amongst them, the morning show from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., was presented by Olivier Jauffrit from the beginning until 2013 with a mix between news, traffic, weather, music, chroniques and interviews.
FRL's audience
As for the editorial prospect, FRL's audience is divided between French listeners and francophiles. At the beginning of 2012, the radio faced an increase by 20% of its audience, growing from 70,000 to 90,000 per week.[3]
