Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University, previously known as the Frontier Women University, is in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It was formed as result of an order from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government in 2004 to provide quality education to the women of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and improve the quality and professionalism of their education.

It is one of the first public sector universities in providing affordable educational opportunities to the female students of KPK to improve their identity at the national and international level.

Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University is the first ever women university of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It was established in accordance with Frontier Women University Act 2004, passed by the Provincial Assembly and assented by the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on 7 February 2005. However, according to the revised Act (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Act No. XI 2010), passed by the provincial assembly of KP on September 6, 2010, the University was renamed as Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU). Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women is the hub of academics, research, curricular and co - curricular activities. The university provides university scale services and facilities, including a central library, sports grounds, gymnasium, transport facility and an array of co - curricular activities. The university also provides hostel facility with well furnished rooms and good food at very nominal rates. Vision Statement of Department To become a recognized research oriented pre-service and in-service female Teacher Training Educational Center in KP by preparing outstanding professional educators through the use of innovative teaching methodologies, who can teach in diverse educational settings in a variety of content areas.

Mission Statement of Department To produce professionally groomed female teachers at Secondary level in KP who will use their creative and exploratory skills, and contribute positively towards the society by providing quality education under the guidance of experienced faculty.

Strategic Plan 1. Objectives: The programme will prepare the graduates in the discipline of education and enable them to: o Expand their intellectual horizon to comprehend the effect of Educational Psychology in modifying student's behavior, intelligence & personality while incorporating & promoting ethical values. o Practically implement interactive teaching with innovation that builds motivation towards learning. o Manage various aspects of school administration & classroom management. o Compare the educational philosophy given by Muslim & Western philosophers in the light of the Holy Quran & Hadith. o Enhance the ability to teach in different dimensions based on various disciplines. o Apply the different assessment tools effectively for assessing students. o Describe the various types of curriculum. o Identify importance of personality grooming through training in hygiene & cleanliness. o Practice the basic skills of using computers. o Compare different educational systems of the world both in qualitative and quantitative dimensions. o Identify the psychological and physical needs of special children. o Identify the problem related to education o Employ specialized tools, instruments and procedure in order to obtain a more adequate solution of that problem
