Template:Infobox City Japan Futaba (双葉町, Futaba-machi) is an abandoned city in Futaba District, Fukushima, Japan.

As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 7,406 and a density of 144.09 persons per km². The total area is 51.40 km².

2011 disaster

In the March 2011 tsunami, a town official reported that 90% of the houses had been destroyed.[1] Following the subsequent nuclear accident, Futaba fell within the exclusion zone surrounding the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant and was summarily evacuated by the Japanese government.[2]
