Govert A. den Hartogh (born 1943, Kampen) is a Dutch philosopher. He studied theology and philosophy and received his Ph.D. from the University of Amsterdam in 1985. He was a fellow at the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences from 1987 until 1988.[1] From 1995 until January, 2009, den Hartogh was professor of ethics and its history at the University of Amsterdam. His interests include moral philosophy, legal philosophy and medical ethics. As an ethicist and philosopher, den Hartogh has been portrayed or interviewed numerous times, especially by the Dutch newspaper Trouw.[2][3][4][5] In 2009 a festschrift dedicated to Govert den Hartogh's retirement was published by Boom Juridische Uitgevers.[6]
