George Boyne

George Boyne' AcSS is Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen [1]. He joined the University on 1 August 2018[2].

Originally from Aberdeen, Boyne is a double graduate of the University of Aberdeen and has spent the majority of his academic career in Wales.

Prior to joining the University of Aberdeen, Boyne was Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences and a Professor of Public Sector Management at Cardiff University, and a member of the University Executive Board.  He was previously Dean of Cardiff University’s Business School.

Research

During his career, Boyne has published eight books and over 140 articles in academic journals[3]. His main research interest is the explanation and evaluation of organisational performance in the public sector.

Personal life

Boyne lives in Aberdeen with his wife Jennifer. They have two grown up sons, Alec and Murray.
