George Goldsmith (7 August 1850 – 5 April 1916) was an English cricketer. Goldsmith was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm fast. He was born at Brighton, Sussex.

Goldsmith made a single first-class appearance for Kent against Derbyshire in 1875 at the Private Banks Sports Ground, Catford Bridge.[1] Kent won the toss and elected to field, with Derbyshire making 213 all out, with Goldsmith bowling five wicketless overs for the cost of 11 runs. In response, Kent were dismissed for just 70 in their first-innings, with Goldsmith ending the innings not out on 2. Forced to follow-on in their second-innings, Kent were dismissed for just 83, with him making a single run before he was dismissed by John Smith. Derbyshire won by an innings and 60 runs.[2]

In 1878, he made his debut for Sussex in a first-class match against Kent at the Higher Common Ground, Tunbridge Wells.[1] Sussex won the toss and elected to bat, making 149 all out, during which Goldsmith was dismissed for 3 runs by Charles Cunliffe. Kent responded in their first-innings by making 243 all out with Goldsmith opening the bowling and taking the wicket of Charlie Absolom to finish with figures of 1/38 from eighteen overs. Sussex responded in their second-innings by making just 58 all out, with Goldsmith ending the innings not out without scoring. Kent won the match by an innings and 36 runs.[3] He made a second first-class appearance for Sussex in 1879 against the same opposition, this time at the County Ground, Hove.[1] Kent won the toss and elected to bat first, making 120 all out, during which Goldsmith bowled three wicketless overs which conceded 8 runs. Sussex were then dismissed for just 60 in their first-innings, with Goldsmith ending the innings unbeaten without scoring. Kent then made 96 all out in their second-innings, with him bowling ten wicketless overs which conceded 14 runs. This set Sussex a target of 157 for victory, however they could only manage 53 all out, with Goldsmith ending the innings not out on 3.[4]

Following his playing career, Goldsmith would later serve as the secretary of Sussex County Cricket Club.[5] He died at Hanwell, Middlesex, on 5 April 1916.
