Historical reconstruction of Gigantosaurus by Heinrich Harder

Gigantosaurus (meaning "giant lizard") is a poorly known (nomen dubium) sauropod dinosaur genus from England [1]. The type species, Gigantosaurus megalonyx, was described by Harry Seeley in 1862.

The name "Gigantosaurus" later factored into the convoluted taxonomic history of the African dinosaur(s) Barosaurus, Tornieria, and Janenschia. A discussion of this can be found in the main Tornieria article.
