The Girls Just Want to Have Fun soundtrack was released in 1985 on cd, vinyl and cassette in the U.S. on the PolyGram Records/Mercury Records label. Contrary to an earlier version of this entry, the soundtrack was released in the United States. It's been out of print for quite some time and is now quite rare and expensive.

The Compact Cassette was still widely available until being discontinued in 2000 when Mercury Records label was retooled by its parent company Universal Music Group and PolyGram Records was purchased by Universal Music Group.[citation needed]
