The Grand Rapids Police Department of Grand Rapids, Michigan was established in 1871. Staffed by 292 uniformed personnel, as well as 73 civilian employees, the department handles approximately 150,000 calls for service a year in a city with a population of almost 195,000.

Police Headquarters

1871 - 1882 GRPD Police Headquarters	Prior to 1882, for near a dozen years, the police headquarters were at the corner of Monroe and Ionia streets (101 Monroe Avenue).
Police Headquarters ca. late 1800s Cleaned	In June of that year they were moved to corner of Lyon and Campau streets.
Hall of Justice, City of Grand Rapids, Michigan	In 1966 the department moved to 333 Monroe Avenue NW. This collocated building was composed of both the police department and the 61st District Court and the 17th Circuit (Kent Country) Court.
Monroe Center Entrance	In 2000, the department moved to 1 Monroe Center NW.
