Gunnar Seijbold, (25 January 1955 - 25 April 2020) was a Swedish freelance press photographer and musician. During his career he worked for several newspapers, like Expressen and Aftonbladet.

Biography

Seijbold was originally from Stockholm. His father Olle Seijbold was also a photographer, who took photos of the Swedish extradition of Baltic soldiers.[1] During his career Gunnar Seijbold worked for several newspapers like Expressen, Dagens Nyheter and Aftonbladet.[2][3][4][5]

He was the Swedish Government's official photographer, and followed Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt on his visit to meet American president Barack Obama in the White House in 2009.[6]

Seijbold also was the official European Union photographer during Sweden's leadership period in 2009.[7] In this capacity he was the lone photographer, and provided photos from the Union's meetings and work to the world's press.[8]

Seijbold also founded the photo company ”Svenska bild” along with Andreas Hassellöf, Gustav Mårtensson and Lars G. Öhlund.[9] He was for some time the company's CEO.[9]

Beside his profession of photography, he was also an musician, and he appeared as a bass player on the Eddie Meduza album För Jaevle Braa!.[10]

Death

Seijbold died after suffering from COVID-19 on 25 April 2020.[11]
