HP/De Tijd is a Dutch language monthly opinion magazine published in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
History and profile
HP/De Tijd was founded in 1990 after a merger of the news magazine Haagse Post and De Tijd.[1][2] Haagse Post was a social liberal news magazine published weekly from 1914 to 1969.[1] De Tijd was a Catholic weekly magazine.[2]
HP/De Tijd is published by Audax Publishing.[3] The company bought the magazine in 1994 from publisher HPU, VNU and MeesPierson bank.[3] The headquarters of the magazine is in Amsterdam.[2] The magazine is conventionally considered to be one of the four most influential written media in its sector, along with De Groene Amsterdammer, Vrij Nederland and Elsevier.[4] In the early 2000s HP/De Tijd was known for its right-wing discourse (often featuring right-wing luminaries such as Pim Fortuyn), but nowadays the opinions in the magazine lean more to the left.
HP/De Tijd was published weekly until 25 April 2012 when its frequency became monthly.[5]
The circulation of HP/De Tijd was 28,662 copies in the last quarter of 2008.[6] The paid net circulation of the magazine was 19,168 copies in the last quarter of 2011.[5]
