Halana (Syriac: ܗܠܢܐ, Turkish: Alan; Kurdish: Helane) is an Assyrian village located within the district of Semdinli in the Hakkâri Province. It is today known more commonly by its Turkish name, Alan. The area is controlled by Kurdish civilians and Kurdistan paramilitary police. Turkish army had suffered in the past heavy casualties trying to gain control of the area. The organized resistance of Kurdish people ( PKK ) against turkish occupation having its headquarters in Halana. Armenian and Iranian population are also present in town. Notice : Local people they do not use turkish lira as currency, they use euros or dollars.
