Hallaur The Town Hallaur is situated near the banks of Rapti river 44KM north-west from distrcit Sidhharth Nagar and it comes Under Dumariyaganj Block. The town Hallaur came into light after the advent of Shan Abdur Rahman Mira who is beleived to have been migrated from the Pesian city Mash'had to escape from the persecution of Seljuke turks who were ruling the islamic world. Many of shi'as of central Asia took refuge in india and shah abdur rehman mira was prominent one.

Shah Abdul Rehman Mira was a devouted twelwer shiite and he was a seyyed. He has his linege from the 8th Imam of shiite Imam Ali bin musa reza(a.s).His tomb is still situated in the heartland of Hallaur and people of Hallour who regard him as their ancestor rever him alot. Some people beleive that he settled in Hallaur during the reign of Mughal emperor Shahjehan who gifted them some land including Hallaur but there are no proof regarding this claim as that time Persia was being ruled by Safvid dynesty who were strict follower of shi'a islam. So it can be said that he migrated to india somewhere between 14th to 15th century.

The current population of Hallur is nearly estimated around 25,000 with a overwhelming majaority of shia.An estimated 90% population are shia, rest are sunni and hindus but most of sunnies have also embraced shiite faith. More than half of the population of this town is scattered throughout the country from nearby districs like Gorakhpur and Lucknow to far south in Maharashtra. Most of the immigrants of this town are well connected to their roots as the frequently visits their motherland specially during the months of mourning(Aayiame Aza).

The litraecy rate amongst the people is remarkably higher that other people living in surrounding area. Many people of this town are working in GCC countries for their living apart from local traders who are the backbone of the economy of this town.A subtantial number of people are also working in government sector but they mostly live in their respective cities.
