Hanson and the Beast (Chinese: 二代妖精之今生有幸) is a Chinese fantasy comedy film starring Feng Shaofeng and Liu Yifei.[2] The film was released on 29 December 2017 in China. It was released in limited release in North America on 5 January 2018.[3]
Plot
Yuan Shuai, a debt-ridden animal-breeder, tries to get out of his financial predicament by finding a wealthy girlfriend through matchmaking dates. He unexpectedly meets and fall in love with the fox demon, Bai Xianchu, who has arrived to the mortal realm to repay her gratitude. However, the head of the Demon tribe Yun Zhonghe forbids a love relationship between a demon and a human; and takes Bai Xianchu away. To seek his lover, Yuan Shuai bravely crashes the demonic world.
Cast
- Feng Shaofeng as Yuan Shuai/Hansen - a Lonely man whom owes a group of thugs a ton of money. Which forces him to work and live at zoo and attempts to find a rich woman to help settle his debt. He later falls in love with Bai Xianchu when he realizes that he saved her life by blocking a sulfur acid that left a scar on his chest when he was a child. Yuan Shuai realizes that she is everything he needs so he tries to save her.
- Liu Yifei as Bai Xianchu - a rare-breeded Arctic Silver Fox. Her silliness and clumsiness for Yuan Shuai leads her into a lot of trouble with the Bureau of Transfiguration. Because it is also felony crime to marry a human. She loves Yuan Shuai dearly and is willing to do anything for him. She tries hard to seduce him.
- Li Guanjie as Yun Zhonghe - Commissioner of the Bureau of Transfiguration. He’s the main antagonist.
- Guo Jingfei as Hong Secong - Chief of Human World Branch of the Bureau of Transfiguration.
