Harveys Furniture is a British retail chain, specialising in living room and dining room furniture, with over 150 stores throughout the United Kingdom.

History

Harveys Furniture was founded in the United Kingdom in 1966,[1] with its first store opening in Mare Street, East London. It began as a private company, selling textiles and home furnishings.

In 2003, Harveys made the decision to move to a furniture only business, removing all textiles from their product portfolio. In 2005, the company was acquired by Steinhoff International, who now wholly own the company. Between 2004–2010, Harveys Furniture specialised in living room, dining room and bedroom furniture. However, in May 2010, the bedroom furniture range was removed from the catalogue, and was taken over by Bensons for Beds, another Steinhoff brand.

Stores

Harveys are the largest furniture specialist in the United Kingdom; currently having more than 150 stores across the country.[2]

In the early hours of November 23, 2013, a fire engulfed the Carlisle branch; the cause was treated as suspicious.[citation needed]
