Hector the Collector is a poem by Shel Silverstein which was published in Where the Sidewalk Ends. Its opening lines are:[1]

Hector the Collector
Collected bits of string
Collected dolls with broken heads
And rusty bells that would not ring.

The poem is suitable for young children learning to read. It repeats consonant sounds as a form of alliteration.[2]
